Celebrating Victoria’s regional history
The original Darriwill Farm is an idyllic 840-acre property located at the junction of the Moorabool River and Sutherland Creek north of Geelong. Dating back to the mid-1800s, it was a grazing property and vineyard featuring a classic bluestone homestead alongside an extensive vegetable garden and orchard.
Dougal and Nellie Ramsay, who owned the farm from 1994 to 2012, established a chain of retail stores to preserve the qualities of the traditional Australian country store and celebrate regional Victorian produce.
Bringing the best to Highton
Darriwill Farm Highton opened in 2000 and had a major role in re-energising the shopping village.
Fleur and Jim Whelan took over the shop and café in September 2015 bringing with them extensive experience in the hospitality sector and a strong appreciation of good food.
After acquiring the business, they immediately refurbished the space to create a light and modern area, creating an ideal spot for meeting friends for a coffee or a bite to eat alongside an exciting retail space in which to browse a range of gourmet food, wine, hampers, kitchen and gift wares.
Their vision is to ensure we all enjoy the products of artisan food makers, particularly supporting producers from the Geelong and Bellarine region.
